Things are changing.  Things are always changing.

2227_06

In our sleep, while we work, even when we stop to take it all in and be intentionally present.

There is a constant wind of change.

EEhurst000223-R4-E058 EEhurst000223-R4-E055

But lately, I’ve felt that wind, in a big strong gust. It’s been growling at me.

2226_05

I’ve felt the push to do some of the things I’ve longed to do, but just haven’t.  And you know why I haven’t?

2225_09

Yep, the fingers are pointing at me.  I’ve been standing in my own way.  How embarrassing, huh?  There are no life changes of a move, or a baby, or any of that sort.  My happy family of five isn’t going anywhere.

But, there is a desire to at least set out on the journeys I’ve dreamed about. Looking at my kids growing so lightning fast, I just know…

There is limited time to really dive into the things that pull at me.

There is such a short time to embrace these things.

2226_09

So for that reason, I’m putting on a smile

And I’m saying, “Why not?”

EEhurst000223-R3-E036

Why not go for it?

If it’s worth the dream,

EEhurst000223-R4-E050

then it’s worth the effort, right?

You just don’t know what you are capable of building if you never try.

2226_04

So, here’s to trying.

Let’s see what I build.

Can’t wait to see it all happen! Go for it!

I don’t know what you are talking about, but I think you’ve already built the most beautiful thing you will ever build in your life. And you’ve done an exquisite job of it.

If there is one thing that is constant, it’s change. Embrace it today.

Oh, Rachel, sweet Rachel.

I didn’t know Rachel until she chose me as her wedding photographer.  Last night as she married her best friend, I lost count of how many times she made me cry.  You would have thought I knew this girl from birth.  I didn’t, I have only been witness to the love of her family for maybe a year.  I watched how adoring and caring her parents were with her.  So, when she saw her dad and started crying, so did I.  Again, during the father/daughter dance, she started tearing up, and before I knew it, I was wiping tears too.

Love dictated the day. You could feel it.

Her sunshine personality shone through in the yellow details.

But weddings are so much more than colors.  Yeah, they are those feelings you got on your first date.  They are those moments you let yourself cry, and those moments you let yourself laugh.

Those moments when you let yourself feel it all…and let go.

It may be the most overlooked part of the wedding for some, but really it’s the most important.  Letting go.

7D9A9372

Letting go of the expectations and hanging on to what’s important.

Congratulations, Bryce + Rachel!  Here’s to a lifetime of letting go!

When Riley’s mom booked her senior session and we discussed location, she said, “That girl doesn’t have any country in her.” Riley, this gorgeous senior graduating from a small town, loves big city life.

Rylie Meyer97

Her roots run deep in her community where everyone knows everyone, but she really likes the city.  Girl, I get it.

It’s so nice to go back to where I was raised and sit on the front porch with Granny.  Things are quieter.  Things are slower.  It’s so peaceful.  It’s a place of solace, and I wouldn’t trade growing up small town.  I love going back and grabbing an onion fried burger in the town I went to high school, and someone stops me and asks me about my family.  But, I also love busy streets, tall buildings, and all the shopping you could want nearby.  Riley is setting out on her own adventures that may one day take her leopard heels to the big city.

Who knows where her smile could take her.

Riley, go on out and love whatever city wins your heart.  Plant your seeds there and grow.

But, someday when you’re sitting on the porch on a quiet afternoon on a visit back to that small town…

You might just decide you have a little country in you. Congratulations, Riley!

Maybe one day she will end up in a small town….
